I was supposed to have been a teacher. Or a tax attorney. Or a university president — my mother’s idea. Anything but an artist. But let’s be honest: it’s my mother’s fault I’m here. She taught me to sew as a child and I’ve been stitching ever since. As I got older new crafts joined the party: embroidery, printmaking, weaving, fabric design…. Anything that would help me turn ordinary items into something special.
